About This Content

The BR MK1 Suburban coaches were introduced by British Railways between 1954 and 1956. Designed for shorter routes with tighter curves, particularly in suburban areas. A total of 596 of these coaches were constructed across various BR workshops, with the design featuring different compartment sizes and seating arrangements to cater to first and second-class passengers.
